8 Prep Steps for Rodent Control Service

Seeing or hearing even just one mouse in your home can mean there’s a rodent family hiding in the walls or attic.

Rodents are more active at night, so you may never really know how big the problem is until you start noticing damage.

It is possible to rid of a rodent problem yourself. However, most times it requires a professional to remove and prevent the issue. Our rodent exclusion professional will investigate, find, rid, and prevent a rodent infestation.

Prior to our trained team coming to your home, there are a few steps we would like our customers to take to help us.

8 Steps to Prep

To help us prepare and prevent a future problem, follow these simple prep steps:

  1. Store all food, not in a can or jar, in the refrigerator or in a heavy plastic container. Keep foods stored for at least two weeks after our treatment. Be sure to store or refrigerate foods normally in upper or lower cabinets, on countertops, or on top of the refrigerator, including chips, candies, nuts, cereals, bread, any grain-based food, pet foods, etc. Do not put foods in plastic storage bags; rodents can chew right through them.rodent exterminator
  2. Check for holes in the walls, around baseboards, in roof eaves, and in doors that don’t seal properly. You can either repair these or point them out to our exclusion team. We can offer a solution. Remember, mice can get into your home through gaps as small as 1/4 inch. Rats through holes as small as 1/2 inch in diameter.
  3. Remove all items from the top of the refrigerator and from beneath the kitchen sink to allow access to these areas.
  4. When our field professional arrives, discuss the situation with him, noting areas where rodents or signs of rodents have been seen.
  5. Our team may set and place a variety of baits and traps. Do not touch or disturb these during or after the service.
  6. For ongoing prevention, clean, sweep, and vacuum your home regularly. Take out the trash on a regular basis, keep lids on trash cans, and keep all areas as clean as possible.
  7. Be sure to get rid of any unused cardboard boxes, newspaper, and clothing. Rodents (and other pests) can take shelter here, gnaw the items to make their nests, and even breed in undisturbed areas.
  8. For long-term prevention, consistently check your home regularly for small holes or gaps in doors, windows, and roof lines.

When our customers follow the steps listed above, our field professionals can more effectively rid your home of the problem. Also, it’s more likely you will be able to maintain a rodent-free home.
